Descripción

El socialismo y el hombre en Cuba (Socialism and Man in Cuba) is a letter sent by Ernesto Che Guevara to Carlos Quijano, director of the Semanario Marcha. It was published on March 12, 1965, under the title «From Algeria, to March, The Cuban Revolution Today».
Carlos Quijano (lawyer, politician and essayist, founder and director of the mentioned Uruguayan weekly, was born in Montevideo on March 21, 1900 and died in Mexico on June 10, 1984).
In the original edition, the editor added the following note: «Che Guevara sent this letter to Marcha from Algeria. This document is of the most significant importance, especially in order to understand the objective and goal of the Cuban Revolution, seen by one of the main actors in the process. The theses presented are an attempt to provoke debate and, at the same time, offer a new perspective on one of the present foundations of socialist thought ».
On November 5, 1965, it was published again and presented as «exclusive: a special note by Che Guevara.»
It was explained that Marcha‘s readers in Argentina had not been able to read the original publication, because the week it was published for the first time, the magazine had been banned in Buenos Aires.
